Weight Loss has become a global obsession, and a national goal. For the obese, weight loss is a health problem that must be rectified. For the image driven, a low weight and svelte body is a marketing tool and motivation for vanity and the ego. Weight loss has become a new issues for a young generation of children that cannot see the epidemic of youth overeating and child obesity for what it is : startling and dangerous. With that said though, the act of losing weight can itself bring about health issues if not done properly.

Outright social rejection on many levels is often the reason to start a serious weight loss program. While the culture at large enjoys the attainable myth of slimness, the projected image of a slim, beautiful woman or healthy fit man can be physically impossible for many people to achieve.
